About the Artist

Stacy DeMott

1987 • American-born

My work explores the intersection of nature, color, texture, and the female form. I am drawn to the organic rhythms found in both the natural world and the human body, using layered compositions to highlight their shared softness, strength, and complexity.

Building on the foundation of traditional oil painting developed through my B.F.A. in Fine Arts, I have evolved toward a multidisciplinary practice that incorporates thread, yarn, fabric, and mixed media. These materials allow me to move beyond the flat surface, creating texture and dimension while introducing a tactile, intimate quality to each piece. The processes of stitching, layering, and embellishment become both visual and physical extensions of the subject matter.

Color plays a central role in my work, shaping mood and energy while reinforcing a sense of movement and emotional depth. I am particularly interested in the way bold, expressive palettes can coexist with softness and vulnerability, creating a balance between strength and delicacy.

Creating is at the core of who I am. It is more than a practice—it is a constant impulse and an essential form of expression. Each piece is an exploration of that drive, shaped by a deep desire to make, experiment, and connect. Through my work, I invite viewers into richly textured worlds where beauty, emotion, and storytelling intertwine.
